Summer

I close my eyes and listen to the sounds in the summer air

I smell the fragrant roses, their perfume we all share

The dragonflies and bumblebees are busy all the day

Whilst farmers in the fields nearby are busy with the hay

The birds are chatting noisily all singing their own song

The brook just keeps on babbling, it just goes on and on

The fish they swim so silently you wouldn't know they're there

Just now and then they jump right out and catch a fly mid air

The singing of the songbirds on those lazy summer days

Is a melody to enchant the dreams of lovers as they gaze

Into each other's eyes as they lay, their arms entwined

and wish to dream forever, that no greater love they'll find.

They feel the grass beneath their feet, so soft, so warm, so green

Time passes oh so quickly, it’s as if they’re in a dream

At end of day the setting sun drops gently in the sky

And insects, birds and lovers sleep as the moon goes passing by
