Christmas Play

Children's faces smile and glow with thoughts of Christmas long ago.
In Schools and churches nationwide are scenes retold of Christmastide
The little ones who sit in awe upon the church or classroom floor
And watch the scenes all moved with care as Mary sits upon the chair
With baby Jesus in her arms, the kings and shepherds clasp their palms.
The choir sing they have no fear, the audience they shed a tear
The Angel on his perch up high, swings down as if he's from the sky
Good will and peace to all mankind he says unhooking from behind
But tragedy is yet to come as he lands softly on his bum
The scenery is knocked askew and children standing are now few
The children start to look forlorn but rescue comes in the strangest form
Mary, who is very wise, stands up, on her are now all eyes.
Begins to sing, her voice so clear its heard by everybody's ear
The music now begins to play and all join in, she saved the day
At last the music fades away, a roar goes up a loud Hooray
Everybody shouts and cheers. The play now ends for another year.
